A great spread of delicious food prepared by members was featured at our November 29, 2023 meeting at Westminster High School.
Our 2023-2024 kick-off meeting on October 10 at Winter's Mill High School was lots of fun featuring lessons in line dancing.
May 16 was our dinner meeting followed by a beautiful induction ceremony led by Laura McClelland with assistance from Lisa Macurak. Our new inductees are Nancy Baecker, Erica McAndrew, Rachel McCusker, Debbie Sherry and Kathleen Wallis.
May 6 was a gorgeous day for a wonderful visit to the Hillwood Estate and Gardens in Washington, DC.
Our April 27th meeting featured Alison King, co-owner of the Westminster book store, Rudolph Girls who presented a history of how two former teachers started a business without any previous business experience and presented some of her most interesting books.
The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International DKG Maryland State Convention was held April 14 - 16, 2023 at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Omicron's President, Maria Shanabarger was honored during the procession of chapter presidents. The Omicron Chapter received a Chapter Achievement Award. There was also a Women in the Arts Exhibit, Silent Auction and various workshops. The Keynote speaker was Trish Woodley, International Guest.
During our March 21st meeting we heard from our guest speaker Monica Schmidt from Mission Beelieve. The evening featured our annual cookie exchange. Cookies were donated to William Winchester Elementary School. Diapers collected for Carroll Baby served as our community service focus for the evening.
Chapter Meeting: Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Winters Mill High School. Guest Speaker, Kris Wood from the Maryland Hospital Center presented information about Self Care Practices for Everyday Life.
During our chapter meeting on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Dr. Christine Koenig shared her teaching experiences of living and teaching abroad in Saudi Arabia and South Korea, visiting Cambodia and serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines.
On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, several members attended our fall field trip to Exploration Commons at the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library where makerspace supervisor, Amanda Krumrine, provided a very informative tour of the library's new high tech hands-on equipment and training facility.
October 11, 2022: Omicron Chapter's first meeting of the new biennium: A pot luck fried chicken dinner at the new wing of the Carroll County Career and Technology Center. Presiding over the new meeting is chapter president, Maria Shanabarger.
