Scholarship Committee
Our Grants in Aid Scholarship:
The Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, International awards a $600 (six hundred) scholarship each college semester to a woman who is planning to enter the field of education. Toward this effort, we have been fortunate to partner with McDaniel College's Master of Science in Teaching program, formerly, Better Educators for Students of Tomorrow (BEST). The women who complete this program will graduate with a master's degree and certification to teach in Maryland schools. Our chapter awards a scholarship during their final semester when they intern (student teach) within the public school system. In any given semester, if there is no pool of female graduate student applicants, we turn to McDaniel College's female undergraduates who are pursuing careers in education. Past recipients of our $600 scholarship include women who have majored in science, special education, elementary education, and secondary education with emphasis in social studies or mathematics. For information, contact the Omicron Chapter Scholarship Chair, Elzena Burns. |
